Important CRA dates in 2023 for self-employed individuals.

Being an entrepreneur is a lot of work and it can be easy to forget a few key dates. To help you keep on top of your CRA commitments in 2023, we've put together a list of dates that we believe are important for self-employed individuals.

Important CRA dates for self-employed Canadians
January 31

GST/HST payment due

Payment for GST/HST collected between October–December 2022 is due if you file your sales taxes on a quarterly basis.

March 1

RRSP contribution deadline

The final date for your RRSP contributions to be eligible for the 2022 tax year.

March 15

Income tax due

Quarterly instalment payment for your income tax is due if you anticipate owing more than $3,000 (for Quebec $1,800) at tax time in 2024.

May 1

2022 taxes due

This is the deadline to pay your taxes if you owe the government any money for the 2022 tax year. This includes your personal income tax as well as any GST/HST owed if you file your sales taxes on an annual basis.

GST/HST payment due

Payment for GST/HST collected between January–March 2023 is due if you file your sales taxes on a quarterly basis.

June 15

Tax filing deadline

The due date for self-employed individuals—this means you, sole proprietors—to file their 2022 income tax.

Quarterly instalment payment for your income tax is due if you anticipate owing more than $3,000 (for Quebec $1,800) at tax time in 2024.

July 31

GST/HST payment due

Payment for GST/HST collected between April–June 2023 is due if you file your sales taxes on a quarterly basis.

September 15

Income tax due

Quarterly instalment payment for your income tax is due if you anticipate owing more than $3,000 (for Quebec $1,800) at tax time in 2023.

October 31

GST/HST payment due

Payment for GST/HST collected between July–September 2023 is due if you file your sales taxes on a quarterly basis.

December 15

Income tax due

Quarterly instalment payment for your income tax is due if you anticipate owing more than $3,000 (for Quebec $1,800) at tax time in 2024.
